Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-ling’s (pic) marriage to Japanese boyband Exile’s member Akira was prompted by her ailing mother’s sickness.
China Press reported that Wu Tzu-mei had been suffering from Alzheimer’s since 2015, and was frequenting the National Taiwan University Hospital for treatment.
Lin reduced her workload last year to be with her mother but when her mother’s condition improved, Lin spent more time with Akira whose real name is Ryohei Kurosawa.
When Wu made known her wish to see her daughter walking down the aisle, Lin decided to get married.
It is also a Chinese belief that an auspicious occasion would bring good luck to a mother’s health.
Newlywed Lin Chi-ling thanks fans for well-wishes
Supermodel and actress Lin Chi-Ling, who made a surprise announcement that she was getting married last week, thanked fans for their wishes, China Press reported.
“We will turn your blessings into warmth. I will try my very best to send love, dreams and happiness to everyone,” she posted on her Instagram.
On Thursday, Chi-Ling made a surprise announcement that she had married Akira, a member of Japanese pop band Exile, which shocked fans worldwide.
The couple dated for a year before registering their marriage in Taiwan.
The announcement came as a surprise as Chi-Ling, 44, was rumoured to still be dating actor-singer Jerry Yan, to whom she had been in an on-off relationship for 17 years.
Akira, 37, whose real name is Ryohei Kurosawa, met Lin when they were working together in a play.
He made a similar announcement on his social media profile as well, adding that he hoped that fans would continue to support both of them.
